Chapter 23

Agenda

the source CRM calls this "My Work Day"

Your start-of-day page: today's activities, company announcements and the business dashboard. Also on the web portal at Agenda, with the same layout and options, with these differences: the web toolbar has Refresh and Agenda Settings but no Close (it's a page, not a panel); the web Business Dashboard offers Indicators only (no 🚗 Cluster toggle; the Entrepreneur cluster is desktop-only for now); web announcements come from Library items with "Announcement" in the title (the web library has no folders yet). Your Agenda Settings choices follow you between the desktop and the web like your theme: set them on either surface and the other picks them up (the start-page choice stays per computer).

Which page is "My Work Day"? The source CRM calls this start-of-day page "My Work Day". In TechieCRM it is called Agenda on both the desktop and the web: on the web, open Agenda from the menu and the page is headed Agenda. The web page headed My Work Day is a different page: it is Personal (your Journal and Expenses, Chapter 19), reached from the menu's Personal entry.

Icon bar ▸ Agenda (can be your start page: Settings ▸ Agenda ▸ When starting, go directly to). Refreshes every minute; the toolbar's right edge holds 🔄 Refresh / ⚙️ Agenda Settings / ❌ Close.

The Agenda never freezes the window while it refreshes (October 2026 update). Meetings, tasks and announcements are read in the background, so you can keep typing or dragging elsewhere in TechieCRM while the once-a-minute refresh runs: - First open: each list says Loading... until the first answer arrives (usually a moment). - One refresh at a time: if the database is slow and a refresh is still running when the next minute comes round, that minute is skipped rather than starting a second one. Pressing 🔄 Refresh (or changing Agenda Settings) while one is running is remembered and runs straight after it. - If a refresh fails (the connection dropped, the database is busy), the Agenda keeps showing what it last loaded and a small ⚠ Could not refresh note appears beside the date. Hold the pointer over it to see which part failed, when, and why. It disappears by itself after the next refresh that works. A failure on the very first open shows the reason in the list itself (Failed to load meetings: ...), never an empty list that would read as "nothing today". - The Business Dashboard's 🚗 Cluster already reads in the background on its own.

Three resizable sections: - Activities: today's meetings (time, subject, client) and tasks (☐/☑, subject, client; completed dimmed). Options: include completed tasks, include overdue tasks from previous days. - Company Announcements: the latest announcements from the Library, one at a time (◀ Previous / N of M / ▶ Next); a welcome notice when none exist. From the September 2026 update, a Library that could not be read (connection dropped, or your sign-in isn't allowed to read the database catalogue) is recorded in the diagnostics log with the reason instead of quietly falling back to the welcome notice as though nothing had happened; the welcome notice still shows, so the page never looks broken. - Business Dashboard: 🚗 Cluster (the Entrepreneur Dashboard, Chapter 1) or 📊 Indicators (Select Indicators… to choose dashboard indicators, grouped by dashboard); the choice is remembered per user.

Settings ▸ Agenda

Startup page; Visible Sections (Show Meetings / Tasks / Company Announcements / Dashboard Indicators); Activities Options (include completed, include overdue, show items for all users). Changes apply immediately.

Startup page. With "When starting, go directly to:" ticked, the page chosen beside it opens after every sign-in and the module you last had open is not used. Leave it unticked to have TechieCRM reopen your last module instead (Chapter 2, The window remembers your last module).

Show items for all users works on the web Agenda (Agenda Settings): with it ticked, the Activities lists show everyone's meetings and tasks, not just yours. With it off you see your own, plus any item that has no owner or whose owner was carried over from your previous CRM as a user code rather than a sign-in (those are always shown, so your older history never seems to vanish). On the desktop the tick box is saved but the Agenda does not use it yet (see Not yet available).

If a change cannot be saved (web portal): a yellow message appears ("Your Agenda setting was not saved. Nothing was written. Try again in a moment.") and the tick box goes back to the way it was, because that is the setting the system still holds. Nothing is lost; try again. On the Select Indicators window the same message appears and the window stays open rather than closing as though it had worked. A save that succeeds says nothing and takes effect at once.

An indicator that reads – on the Business Dashboard strip, with Couldn't load underneath, means that figure could not be worked out just now. It is not a zero; see Chapter 21.
